來自大家所熟悉的軟體作者 (Acquisition 和 NewsFire) David Watanabe 的作品：Inquisitor。Inquisitor 可以讓你的 Safari 的搜尋欄位具有即時預測性的功能 (live predictive search)；依據作者在其 blog 的說明，這項即時預測搜尋的功能主要作用有兩項，一是自動填寫完成（Auto-completion）、二是搜尋建議（Query suggestion），例如你要搜尋一個長度頗長的字 "acquisition"，透過 Inquisitor 僅需要輸入 "acq" 即可；此外，若是您想搜尋 ipod，但又不清楚如何讓搜尋更精確，Inquisitor 便會建議一些 “ipod” 關鍵字，如 “ipod shuffle"、“ipod mini”、“ipod accessories”、“ipod cases”...等等。

這個功能有點像是 Google Suggest，簡單地說，即是當您在 Google 搜尋輸入關鍵字時，它會自動建議相近及相關的關鍵字，換句話說，它嘗試猜測你想查詢或搜尋的內容或項目，並且以彈出式下拉選單呈現相近結果。不過這個 Google suggest 功能似乎與 Safari 八字不合，我的情形和 Inquisitor 的作者相同，在 Safari 2.0 上試不出來，但在 justia 這裡 卻看到可以成功使用 Google Suggest 的畫面（如下圖）。

而在 Google Suggest 的 FAQ 這裡 提到，

Your browser must be Internet Explorer 6.0 (or newer), Netscape 7.1 (or newer), Mozilla 1.4 (or newer), Firefox 0.8 (or newer), Opera 7.54 (or newer), or Safari 1.2.2 (or newer). You'll also need to have both JavaScript and cookies enabled.

依上所述，Safari 2.0 應該是可以使用 Google Suggest 的，但我實際使用情形，卻並非這樣。Inquisitor 的作者也因此寫了這個 Safari 的外掛程式，讓 Safari 的使用者也能體驗或受惠，並且更直接地在 Safari 的搜尋欄使用類似功能，而且 Inquisitor 將永遠是個免費軟體。

更新：Inquisitor beta 2 釋出，主要的變動是新增一個偏好設定，讓使用者停用動畫效果，可增進 Inquisitor 的表現速度。(June 8, 2005)
