Google + Sparrow 和 Facebook + Acrylic

這兩天有兩個 Mac/iOS 開發平台上的軟體團隊被收購的消息，一個是 Sparrow (先前的舊文)，這套頗受歡迎的電子郵件軟體已被 Google 收購，之後應該不會再加入新功能了，但使用者還是可以繼續購買。

While we’ll be working on new things at Google, we will continue to make Sparrow available and provide support for our users.

另一個是 Pulp 和 Wallet 這兩套軟體的開發團隊 Acrylic，則是由 Facebook 收購；Pulp 是一套雜誌風的 RSS 閱讀器，而 Wallet 則是可以保存個人密碼與隱私資訊的小資料庫程式，兩者在 Mac 上都已經存在一段時間，但 Facebook 並未收購這兩套軟體，因此同樣地，這兩套軟體仍會繼續販售，但不會再更新。

Our products and services have not been acquired by Facebook, and while there are no plans for further development on them, Wallet and Pulp will continue to remain available for download and purchase in their current form.

Google + Sparrow 和 Facebook + Acrylic，這樣的收購結果會有什麼樣的後續成果，有待觀察，但就 Mac 與 iOS 使用者而言，或許可以找找其他替代方案，其實同樣出色的應用程式也不少，像是 Reeder、Feedly…

從社群網路到智慧型日誌 Path 2.0

Path 這套由 Facebook 前任平台經理、開發人員及其他投資者所推出的社群軟體，最近推出了全新的版本 Path 2。以往 Path 與其他社群軟體最大的差異應該是其封閉的社群機制，分享人數有 50 人的上限。

現在開發團隊推出了 2.0 的版本。appleseed 有一篇詳細的更新心得。

其實就概念、方向與 App 介面的整體設計，Path 2 更像是另一套新軟體，而非單純的 1.0 升級到 2.0 的延續性。

在 1.0 版推出時的影片描述中提到，Path 是個個人分享網路：

Path is the personal network. A place to be yourself and share life with close friends and family.

現在它的定位是智慧型日誌 (smart journal)。

Path is the smart journal that helps you share life and never miss an important moment with family.

網路與分享都是底層的運作，而外在包裝是日誌。如果你正在找一套日誌軟體，可以參考看看 Path 2.0。

Adium 1.4.3

Adium 這套 Mac 上頗受歡迎的傳訊軟體釋出更新了，目前版本更新至 1.4.3；主要的更新與 Facebook Chat 和 MSN 有關。

Facebook will now connect via the officially-sanctioned mechanism (Facebook page on the API).  You no longer have to provide Adium with your username and password; when you first log in, you will be prompted to authenticate via a facebook.com window. Existing Facebook Chat accounts are upgraded automatically.

Facebook 的新玩意兒 Messenger

到底該傳簡訊、E-mail 還是用 Twitter 來找到朋友？Facebook 要你用 Facebook Messenger，這是新推出的 App，透過簡單快速的介面，讓你聯繫親朋好友；其部落格文章提到：

Messenger is a separate app, so it only takes one click to get to your messages or send a new one. Messages are delivered through notifications and texts, so your friends are more likely to get them right away.

Facebook 的 iPad App 就藏在 iPhone 裡

先前曾經提到 Facebook 的官方 iPad 程式有譜，今天 TechCrunch 的這篇報導提到，不少使用者期待的 Facebook iPad 應用程式其實已經藏在 iPhone 版的 Facebook 應用程式中。
